The lacrosse team scored a 6-5 road victory over Old Dominion last Saturday, bringing its record to 3-4 on the season.

Johna Capaldo, the team’s leading scorer, had three goals to lead the Owls, while Casey Cech, Corey Leader and Nicole Cataldo each had a goal.

The Owls went into halftime with a 3-1 lead. They held a 4-3 advantage until two late goals gave them a 6-3 lead with 10 minutes left.

While two Old Dominion goals made the score 6-5 with two minutes left, the Owls defense produced one final defensive stop. Temple Goalkeeper Caitlin Gregory had 13 saves.

The Owls play their next game on Thursday at Rutgers.

MEN’S GYMNASTICS

Sophomore Luke Vexler won the floor exercise, and freshman John Vogtman was named Co-Atlantic Ten Conference Rookie of the Year as the men’s gymnastics team finished its season Sunday at the ECAC Championships in Annapolis, Md.

The team finished third, which was good enough to propel them into the NCAA Championship, earning the 12th and final berth.

The Owls will complete its season next week in Norman, Okla., at the NCAA Championship.

MEN’S TENNIS

The men’s tennis team won its forth straight match with a 6-1 victory over Fordham on Sunday. The win bumped the Owls record to 13-4, their best mark since the 1996-97 season.

The Owls won five out of six singles matches, including one by sophomore Philip Gegenheimer, who was named the A-10 Performer of the Week.

The team will look to continue their winning streak today in a match at Kutztown.

GOLF

The golf team finished tied for 20th at the George Washington Invitational last weekend.

Junior co-captain James Boose was the team’s top finisher, carding an 11-over 155 to finish 60th in the event, held at the Bear Trap Dunes Golf Course.

Two freshmen, Justin Masters and Kevin Busteed, competed in their first collegiate tournament, with Masters finishing tied for 69th. Busteed tied for 107th.

The team will compete at the Drew Upton Golf Classic this weekend.

MEN’S CREW

The Varsity 8 reclaimed the cup in the 24th Murphy Cup on Saturday with a win over George Washington.

The Owls, who have won the Murphy Cup every year with the exception of 2005, won both the Varsity 8 and Second Varsity 8 finals. The Second Varsity 8 edged Saint Joseph’s.

The team is back in action this weekend at the San Diego Crew Classic.
