The union is seeking to challenge the university’s decision to cut healthcare and tuition remission for striking graduate students.

The university sent an email to union members Wednesday notifying them that their full tuition balance would be due on March 9.

Councilmember at-large Isaiah Thomas introduced the resolution which supports TUGSA and calls for the university to meet the union’s demands.

Following TUGSA’s strike announcement this Tuesday, students share thoughts of solidarity with the union

TUGSA urges Temple to offer TAs and RAs a living wage and improve healthcare, working conditions and parental leave.

Sanders’ support comes just one day after TUGSA began their strike to advocate for increased pay, longer parental leave and classroom improvements.

The rally was attended by State Sen. Sharif Street, TUGSA leadership and more than 100 supporters.

The strike comes two months after the union voted to authorize it.

Ninety-nine percent of union members voted to authorize the measure.

The union’s two-week strike authorization vote will end this week after negotiations.
