Feel like you know all the stores in Philadelphia? Want somewhere new to shop? Philly is home to several new shops dedicated to luxury and the latest fashion.
Walnut Street is a mecca for those with a penchant for the finer things in life. Adding to the glitz and glamour of the already present shops, Cole Haan opened a location earlier this year on the corner of 16th and Walnut streets.
With its grand opening on April 27, “The area, location and its name – which is known as an American luxury brand – have accounted for our success,” said Cole Haan Store Manager, Sean Lockner.
Carrying both men and women’s lines, Cole Haan features not only clothes for the fashion maven, but also shoes, outerwear and handbags.
This season’s line is called “Russian Glam,” emphasizing elegant feminine lines and the lavishness of rich textures. Colors are lush with “hot chocolate hues accented with tans,” Lockner said. “And there’s a new eggplant color and lots of blacks, reds and greens.”
For women, Cole Haan’s most popular bags are large totes and hobo bags. As for men’s accessories, the latest shoes are now engineered with Nike Air technology.
The store has had a successful first few months, Lockner said, and he sees even greater potential for the store in the future as the Cole Haan name spreads.
Stitch, at 229 Chestnut St., is a newer men’s boutique in Philly’s Old City district. Opening in October of 2004, owner Eric Fisher set out to “offer styles not offered anywhere else in the city,” he said.
A store unique to the city, Stitch offers apparel, footwear and accessories for men, bringing together top American and European designers from Los Angeles to New York City and even London and Paris.
A true style guru knows that fashion is about lifestyle, so Philly’s two latest furniture stores (opening in the near future) help fashionistas get the latest trends in interior design.
Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams and West Elm are two stores slated to open on Chestnut Street. The new furniture spots will harbinger the latest in design and function.
MG + BW offers trendy pieces with a classic feel including lighting, beds, sofas and armoires.
West Elm brings a more modern and trendy feel to furnishing. With its sleek and modern fall line, blues and browns are making a fashion forward statement in a furniture friendly way.
While Philly’s latest stores are for luxe fanatics, they’re a great source of insight to the world of fashion and interior design. So when you’re tired of strolling the same shops, don’t fear the unknown. Expand your fashion horizons with the help of Philly’s hot new boutiques.
