Senior Alex Tighe finished well in this year’s event finals of the USA Gymnastics’ 2013 Winter Cup Challenge held in Las Vegas. The
Brookfield, Wis., native participated in three events against the country’s top gymnasts.
“It’s always good to be out there with the best, and getting people to notice your name,” Tighe said.
The four-year starter had his best performance on the final day on parallel bars, scoring a 13.900. Unfortunately a poor showing on the apparatus during the preliminaries on Thursday, in which Tighe only scored a 11.600, kept him from placing well on his most hopeful event going into the competition.
Tighe also participated in pommel horse earning a score of 12.000, as well as high bar where Tighe scored a 12.650 and came in 15th place overall for the event.
Tighe will look next to the Owls upcoming tri-meet this Saturday against William & Mary and Penn State in Mcgonigle Hall. Competition
begins at 7:30 p.m.
