Triple shooting injures teens near Main Campus

Police say they believe the three victims may have been shooting at each other, but are still investigating.

After hearing gunshots coming from the 2200 block of N. 12th Street north of Main Campus, Philadelphia and Temple police discovered three young men injured from gunshot wounds at about 11:44 p.m. Friday.

A 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were found shot in the legs and a third man, 19 years old, was found shot in the chest, said Charlie Leone, executive director of Campus Safety Services.  All three were transported to Temple University Hospital and listed in stable condition, he said.

Police then found shell casings in the rear of 2238 N. 12th St. near Dauphin Street. They also discovered three guns: one underneath a car in front of the property, and the other two across the property on Colona Street.

With three guns found and three people shot, the speculation was maybe they were shooting at each other,” Leone said, but added there is “nothing to confirm that at this time.”
