Redshirt senior Frank Nutile enters the spring as the No. 1 quarterback in a four-man group.

Former wide receiver Keith Kirkwood ran the fastest 40-yard dash out of 15 players on Monday.

Temple lost three players on the offensive line after last season, but it returns three starters on the interior offensive line.

Eighteen seniors from the 2017 team will complete drills in front of professional scouts on Monday at the Student Training and Recreation Complex.

Temple has to replace its two 2017 leaders in receiving touchdowns, but it has more depth at running back than it did last season.

Defensive coordinator Andrew Thacker said Temple’s linebackers have the potential to be one of the best groups in the Football Bowl Subdivision.

Temple held its first spring practice of 2018 on Tuesday at Chodoff Field.

Temple is coming off its first bowl win since 2011 in December.

The Owls will play the University of Akron in 2021 and 2023 and will face UMass in 2020 and 2022.

The former safety and cornerback will have defensive back workouts on March 5.
