Female student sexually assaulted at party, police confirm

Campus police have identified a student suspect.

A female student was sexually assaulted while attending a party on the 2000 block of North Broad Street on Saturday, Sept. 22, police have confirmed.

The assault took place in the bathroom of the non-university building, Deputy Director of Campus Safety Services Charlie Leone said. The victim was then taken by her friends to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where the Philadelphia Police Department was called. She was later referred to the department’s Special Victims Unit.

While CSS was informed later that night, Philadelphia police will still continue to handle the investigation.

Leone said a male student has been identified as the alleged perpetrator and Philadelphia police are working in tandem with the District Attorney’s office on possible charges.

The male student could also face possible punishment for Code of Conduct violations by the Office Student Conduct and Community Standards.
