Despite First Team All-Big Ten Conference sophomore guard only scoring Tony Carr two points, the Owls lost to Penn State 63-57 on Wednesday in the first round of the National Inviation Tournament.
Coach Fran Dunphy said Penn State coach Pat Chambers made a “special move” to land several Philadelphia area players, but added Chambers deserves credit for how he recruited the area.
The No. 5 seeded Owls will play the No. 4 seed Nittany Lions on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Bryce Jordan Center on Penn State’s campus in the National Inviational Tournament.
Led by junior guard Melvin Frazier, who won the American Athletic Conference’s Most Improved Player award, Tulane will face Temple in the first round of the conference tournament on Thursday in Orlando, Florida.
