The department is training another police dog that can apprehend suspects, work in crowd control during campus events and detect explosives.

The department has seen positive results following increased foot patrols and other safety measures.

The statement comes in response to what the union feels is a lack of significant improvements after Sgt. Christopher Fitzgerald’s death and “unjust” terminations.
